What do you like most about your job?
I have a great degree of control and freedom within my job. I work full-time on a flexible schedule, both in and out-of-office, and my boss trusts me to produce high-quality work and results and always appreciates me for the work that I do. I work hard to maintain that level of trust, which keeps me engaged and excited. Moreover, the diversity of my work that I do ensures that no day is like any other. Everyday comes up with a new and exciting challenge which keeps me motivated throughout and helps me in producing better quality results.
What is the one core value which you share with BainBridge Navigation?
The one-core value that I share with Bainbridge is taking Ownership. At Bainbridge, authority is delegated to an extra-ordinary extent which empowers team-members to make their own decisions, learn from their mistakes and assume ‘ownership’ of their business. We are hands-on decision makers which make us more accountable, responsive and flexible thus, helping us in delivering better outcomes.
What is your role & responsibilities at BainBridge Navigation?
I provide a high-quality service in the transportation and management of bulk commodities in a reliable and cost-effective manner that creates and enhances value of the logistic supply chain. To be precise, I am in the Far East Panamax team wherein I cater to the tonnage needs of the team specifically for commodities that are being transported from Australia to India. Furthermore, my work involves negotiating the Time Charter Party with Owners/Operators/Brokers, managing vessel nominations, voyage planning and networking with our key clients. I am also involved in FFA transactions of the team in dry bulk market which is a means to protect ourselves against the inherent volatility of the freight rates, as well as trade a highly liquid and volatile market.
What did you learn while working with BainBridge Navigation?
I started working here straight out of college and the company has played a significant role not only in my professional growth but also my personal growth. The workplace has inculcated within me attributes of self-belief, determination, prioritization, flexibility and cultural sensitivity. Bainbridge is a place that continually demands excellence, reinforces self-confidence and allows the team members to passionately present the best of one self to world, while still allowing a healthy and positive work environment.
Share a fun and interesting story from work?
I do not have a specific fun story from work, but I must say that every day is full of some or the other anecdotes which keeps us cheerful and sane.
How do you spend your weekends?
On weekends, I usually spend time with family and friends, watching some or the other Sitcom on Netflix. Also, I am associated with Can Support wherein I work for cancer patients on weekends.
If you can watch one movie, this weekend, what will it be?
My all-time favorite Shawshank Redemption.
